Consistent with MYC driving the NEUROD1-high SCLC subtype [29, 83, 84], increased accessibility of NEUROD1 in cfDNA was associated with upregulation of MYC transcriptional targets in the corresponding tumors (Spearman’s r = − 0.51, P = 0.0030) (Fig. 6 K). This evidence concerns the gene MYC and small cell lung carcinoma.
