Sequencing analysis of a cohort of fibroepithelial breast tumors revealed that the frequency of TERT alterations increased from benign (18%) to borderline (57%) and malignant phyllodes tumors (68%; p < 0.01), with TERT alterations being associated with higher levels of TERT mRNA (p < 0.001) [50]. Here, TERT is linked to malignant breast phyllodes tumor.
