Intriguingly, after we analyzed the genotyping and allele frequency of MET SNP in oral cancer among cigarette smokers, a significant association was found in MET rs1621 polymorphisms between the oral cancer patients and controls, suggesting a lower risk to develop oral cancer carcinogenesis of these individuals who carried the MET rs1621 “GG” genotype. Here, MET is linked to lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
