CHRNA4 and peripheral arterial disease: PAD patients had increased motor nerve denervation to nAChR clusters (7.8% in PAD patients vs. 0.6% in control subjects) and reduced motor nerve terminal occupancy in the NMJs (50.8 ± 2.1% in PAD patients vs. 62.2 ± 1.0 in control subjects, Figure 5A,B).
