Indeed, IL-17A blockade has been shown to be therapeutically effective in enthesitis, a characteristic clinical manifestation in spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis.14 15 The overlap in the pathogenesis of tendinopathy and enthesitis, along with the previously identified potential role for IL-17A in human tendinopathy, inspired the conduct of a clinical Ph2 study to investigate the anti-IL-17A mAb secukinumab as a novel therapeutic approach for rotator cuff tendinopathy (NCT03344640). The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is psoriatic arthritis.
