Of 6,538 participants at visit 5, we excluded individuals with prevalent CHD (n = 1,013), stroke (n = 174), or HF (n = 444), race other than White or Black (n = 18) and Black participants at Minneapolis or Washington field centers (n = 24) because of small numbers, and participants missing adiponectin data (n = 136).
