Elevated adiponectin, in conjunction with elevated NT-proBNP, identifies a phenotype of older adults at high risk for clinical heart failure, especially heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, as well as CVD death, similar to those with low adiponectin and elevated NT-proBNP, despite having a better cardiometabolic profile compared with those with lower adiponectin levels.
