Notably, as in the abovementioned study, in this work, higher serum UA levels exhibited a detrimental effect in participants with normal cognition, while a protective effect of high uricemia was observed in females with mild cognitive impairment and was accompanied by a slower decline in cognitive scores, with this effect being present only in APOE4 carriers and partially mediated by the influence on AD-related hypometabolism (measurement of the hypometabolic convergence index). This evidence concerns the gene APOE and Cognitive impairment.
