IL17A and osteoporosis: Secukinumab proved to be safe and effective in reducing osteoporosis and suspending the formation of syndesmophytes in entheseal tissues, through a 5-year treatment.31 It is not well known how IL-17 is implicated in the process of new bone formation, but recent data indicate that IL-17A can suppress Dkk1 mRNA levels in human mesenchymal stem cells, a finding with potential pathogenetic implications.32
