Polymorphism at the specific site rs868903 of the MUC5B gene has been associated with honeycomb changes in the high-resolution computed tomography images and mortality rate of Chinese patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.[23] In this study, we found that the frequencies of the rs868903 CC and CT genotypes were significantly higher in the CWP population than in the healthy group, suggesting a potential association of these genotypes with CWP susceptibility. This evidence concerns the gene MUC5B and pulmonary fibrosis.
