GPX4 and injury: 2021; Cao et al. 2022). Inhibition of ferroptosis has been shown to alleviate pathological changes in acute RILI (Li et al. 2022). Previous studies showed that naringenin exhibits the ability to alleviate myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, silver nanoparticle-induced lung injury, and cigarette-induced lung injury by inhibiting ferroptosis (Zhang et al. 2022, 2023; Fan et al. 2024). In this study, naringenin was found to reduce the mRNA levels of ferroptosis-related genes including GPX4, FTL, FTH1, and SLC7A11 in radiation-induced cell damage.
