MB and acute kidney injury: Patients with severe tubulotoxic myoglobinuria caused by rhabdomyolysis, which appears to be the most common cause of severe proteinuria in PHI-associated AKI [12] (Table 1), can be readily distinguished by significant rhabdomyolysis parameters such as serum creatinine and myoglobin, and by urinalysis including identification of myoglobin as component of proteinuria.
