Finally, in a comprehensive profiling study of immune activation in the CSF of 118 individuals (58 OCGB + pwMS, 24 OCGB-pwMS, and 36 subjects with other neurological diseases), using PEA for quantifying 92 immune-related proteins, the panel of six CSF immunological proteins with the highest discriminatory power in the comparison between MS and controls comprises Tumor Necrosis Factor Beta (TNFB), a marker of chronic meningeal inflammation which is gaining significant attention in the context of MS.
