On the contrary, specific genes, involved in hematopoietic differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle regulation, such as Cyclin Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 2B (CDKN2B or P15)(Au et al. 2003; Raj et al. 2007), adenosine 5’-Monophosphoramidase (HINT1)(Iwai et al. 2005) and gene sets including P15(Shen et al. 2010), have been detected in hypermethylated mode and silenced, often associated with adverse clinical outcomes in MDS patients. This evidence concerns the gene HINT1 and myelodysplastic syndrome.
