Racism is associated with worse cancer outcomes in Black individuals.46,47 A prior study suggested that discrimination experiences were associated with accelerated aging and the inflammatory markers C-reactive protein and IL-648; yet, there remains a paucity of research linking racism and discrimination to tumor biologic characteristics.6 In this study, our measure of racial and ethnic discrimination captured both the experiences of discrimination and the physical and emotional symptoms associated with these experiences.
