NENF was shown to activate the ERK1/2 and AKT pathways in both mouse neurons and MCF‐7 breast cancer cells.[34] Depletion of NENF reduced the tumorigenic properties of various cancer cells, including liver, bladder, and breast cancer.[35] Taken together, our findings highlight the causal role of eRNA‐QTLs in regulating gene expression. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
