SMC4 and neoplasm: Genes involved in apoptosis regulation, RNA dynamics (99–102), and cell cycle control, such as SMC4 (103, 104), are integral to glioblastoma cell survival and proliferation, with our data suggesting that SMC4 significantly contributes to tumor cell growth and migration by regulating the cytoskeleton and maintaining mitochondrial integrity, as evidenced by increased ROS and altered mitochondrial membrane potential upon its inhibition.
