RXR agonists, known as rexinoids, induce apoptosisin cancer cells,3,4 modulate lipid and glucose metabolism, and have progressed in clinical development for cancer and metabolicdiseases,5 neuropsychiatric disorders,6−8 and neurodegenerative disorders.9 However, rexinoids are known to suppress the thyroid hormone axis10 and to cause rapid triglyceride increases.11 This is attributed to a single compound activatingseveral RXR heterodimers. This evidence concerns the gene TG and cancer.
