Strikingly, both deletion of BAX/BAK and BAI1 treatment did not alter the gene expression of the cyclin-dependent-kinase inhibitors, such as Cdkn2a (encoding p16Ink4a) and Cdkn1a (encoding p21) (Victorelli et al., 2023), indicating BAX inhibition only regulates the proinflammatory features of senescence without interfering with its tumor-suppressive functions. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is neoplasm.
