Insulin therapy is a novel treatment modality for AD, and there is evidence that diet-induced obesity and insulin dysregulation are closely linked to a range of pathological changes such as Aβ amyloid deposition and Tau protein aggregation in AD (Kellar and Craft, 2020; Flores-Cordero et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene INS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
