Cell‐based analyses have demonstrated that insulin is involved in the expression and synthesis of pore‐forming and regulatory protein subunits of IKs and transient outward potassium current (Ito) (Lengyel et al. 2007; Torres‐Jacome et al. 2013); therefore, it is not surprising that disturbances in insulin signaling may lead to cardiac arrhythmias. This evidence concerns the gene INS and cardiac rhythm disease.
