Since the variation in CD4+ T cells, which play a central role in the progression of lymphedema, was elucidated, we next focused on Th2 and Th1 cells, which are subsets of CD4+ T cells studied in previous lymphedema reports [17], and analyzed the variation in cytokine expression (IL-4 and IL-13 for Th2 cytokine and Ifng for Th1 cytokine) using real-time reverse transcriptase-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).
