Induced inflammation in atherosclerosis activates the ROS/NF-κB/LOX-1/oxLDL axis, upregulating the expression of PCSK9, which further upregulates LOX-1 to induce the transformation of macrophages and VSMCs into foam cells, and CD36 to induce platelet activation and thrombosis. Here, NFKB1 is linked to atherosclerosis.
