The induction of apoptosis alone or in combination with DNA damage is attributable to HDAC6 inhibition in several cancers, including renal cell carcinoma [67], castration-resistant prostate cancer, and oral squamous cell carcinoma [68,69] resulting from the inhibition of the antiapoptotic role of HDAC6, which helps cells survive. Here, HDAC6 is linked to oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
