The Spalt Homology 1 (SALL1) protein is responsible for causing Townes–Brocks Syndrome (TBS), leading to a combination of anal, renal, limb, and ear anomalies [21] through molecular mechanisms that involve its function as a transcription factor and its role in regulating primary cilia functions [22]. Here, SALL1 is linked to Townes-Brocks syndrome.
