Lastly, whereas the benzyl group of UM171 induces and binds a surface groove between the 2b-2c and 3b-3c loops of KBTBD4 (site 3 Fig. 4a), the expanded 2b-2c loops of the two cancer mutants (that is, Pro313 of KBTBD4-PR and Met313 of KBTBD4-TTYML) occupy the same space (Fig. 4d,e). The gene discussed is KBTBD4; the disease is cancer.
