ABCB1 and leishmaniasis: Zosuquidar and elacridar, initially developed as inhibitors of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters such as P-glycoprotein (ABCB1), have shown significant potential for repurposing in the treatment of leishmaniasis and Fusobacterium nucleatum (Pérez-Victoria et al. 2006; Hodgkinson and Sharples (2002).
