Using a PCR real-time Taqman amplification assay, we explored the RNA levels of HERV-H-pol, HERV-K-pol, and HERV-W-pol; syncytin 1 (SYN1), SYN2, and HERV-W-env; and TRIM28 and SETDB1 in the peripheral blood of 37 IBS patients and healthy controls (HCs) of similar age. This evidence concerns the gene SYN1 and irritable bowel syndrome.
