Recent studies have suggested that plasma Aβ levels correlate with AD-related central nervous system biomarkers, such as brain Aβ deposition (Botella Lucena et al., 2022), cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers (Aβ42, total Tau, P-tau) (Hanon et al., 2018; Teunissen et al., 2018), and hippocampal volume (Hilal et al., 2018), supporting the possibility that plasma Aβ may be associated with AD or cognitive dysfunction. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
