MGLL and neoplasm: While CES1 expression was generally lower than MAGL (Fig. 7A’,A’’), the notable exception of a tumor exhibiting high CES1 expression with nearly absent MAGL expression (Fig. 7A’,C) suggests a compensatory mechanism for 2-AG hydrolysis, where CES1 assumes a primary 2-AG-hydrolyzing role in the absence of MAGL.
