CACNA1S and cardiovascular disorder: A well-studied class of Cav1.1 antagonists are the 1,4-dihydropyridines (DHPs), primarilydeveloped for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases,66 such as nifedipine and amlodipine, both of whichhave been captured in complex with Cav1.1 by cryo-EM.67,68 Both bind close to the pore ofthe α1-subunit to a hydrogen bond between the hydroxyoxygen of S1011 in Cav1.1 and the N1-nitrogenof the DHP-ring.
