IL-10 is known as an anti-inflammatory cytokine that can suppress inflammatory reaction.6 Chenet al. (2020) in their study stated that in most cases of severe COVID-19, there was an increase level of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-6) and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10), and the levels of IL-6 and IL-10 in severe COVID-19 patients were significantly higher compared to moderate COVID-19 patients.5 This indicates the relationship between the severity of COVID-19 and the incidence of cytokine storms in COVID-19. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
