In conclusion, according to our study of prostate cancer cell lines, the translational ability of CG/CCWGG methylation in the PSA promoter to specific disease status in the clinic could be realized as follows: an elevated PSA level along with monoallelic promoter methylation would reflect benign prostatic hyperplasia or other benign conditions, elevated PSA levels due to biallelic expression of PSA and unmethylated PSA promoter status will be consistent with PCa. This evidence concerns the gene KLK3 and Familial prostate cancer.
