Despite the high reported prevalence of individual metabolic derangements in Uganda, the magnitude of MetS and how it relates to the AST/ALT ratio in HIV-positive individuals on DTG-based ART has not been investigated, and hence the need to investigate this burden as MetS is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular illnesses and diabetes mellitus than do its constituent parts [21] Therefore, this study determined the prevalence of MetS and its association with the AST/ALT ratio among HIV-positive patients on DTG-based ART. The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
