Sorafenib is a multi‐target tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that exerts its antitumour effects through anti‐proliferation mechanisms by targeting key components of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK signalling pathway and blocks the activity of receptors such as the platelet‐derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR‐β), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR‐2) and c‐KIT, thereby inhibiting tumour angiogenesis. The gene discussed is KDR; the disease is neoplasm.
