Using a list of candidate genes previously used to annotate risk genes expressed in the mouse brain [49], we show predominant expression of candidate genes for obesity in hypothalamus (Asb4, Calcr, Cbln1, Pomc, Sim1), hippocampus (Bdnf, Grp), striatum (Cep295, Rarb) or in brainstem (Fam57b, Gprc5b, Tfap2b) (Supplementary Table 9). Here, CBLN1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
