Using a list of candidate genes previously used to annotate risk genes expressed in the mouse brain [49], we show predominant expression of candidate genes for obesity in hypothalamus (Asb4, Calcr, Cbln1, Pomc, Sim1), hippocampus (Bdnf, Grp), striatum (Cep295, Rarb) or in brainstem (Fam57b, Gprc5b, Tfap2b) (Supplementary Table 9). This evidence concerns the gene SIM1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
