In this study, shRNA-mediated silencing of ORMDL3 alleviated ox-LDL, basal, and serum starvation-induced endothelial cell autophagy to a certain extent, suggesting that ORMDL3 may be a causative gene associated with endothelial cell autophagy in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. This evidence concerns the gene ORMDL3 and atherosclerosis.
