BBS10 and Bardet-Biedl syndrome: As previously noted, although kidney disease and liver enzyme elevations are common comorbidities in patients with BBS and could impact CVD risk, in this small study group, there were no patients with severe kidney disease or abnormal liver enzymes ≥3 times the upper limit of normal at baseline or at Week 52 and there was no difference identified in these values when comparing individuals with variants in BBS1 or BBS10 (1, 33, 34).
