PIR and melanoma: Pirin is an NRF2-induced protein that has been implicated in melanoma (Licciulli et al., 2010; Licciulli et al., 2011; Miyazaki et al., 2010; Lisabeth et al., 2019; Zhang et al., 2022; Diaz-Ramón et al., 2023; Penas et al., 2023) While the mechanisms of pirin actions are poorly understood, pirin binding by the MRTF-inhibiting CCG compounds, may be relevant to their anti-melanoma effects.
