ccRCC is characterized by mutations of Von Hippel–Lindau (VHL), which lead to abnormal activation of hypoxia inducible factors, a group of transcription factors that regulate various genes, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), facilitating neovasculogenesis in tumors [2, 39]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
