SLC18A2 and Huntington disease: Tetrabenazine, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of hyperkinetic movement disorder Huntington's disease (HD), is used primarily to manage HD–induced chorea [34], likely by preventing dopamine from binding to upregulated D2 receptors; however, it has been suggested that tetrabenazine can inhibit vesicular monoamine transporter‐2 (VMAT‐2) [35].
