For males, the proportion of smokers and the levels of BMI, VFA, SFA, SBP, DBP, TC, LDL-c, TG, TG/HDL-c ratio, FBG, ALT, AST, GGT, UA, Hb and HOMA-IR were higher in the NAFLD group compared to the non-NAFLD group (all P < 0.05), while age, diabetes duration, HDL-c, Scr, UACR and SPISE were lower (all P < 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
