Hypertension observed in offspring as a result of maternal high-fructose diet programming correlates with abnormal activation of the classic RAS axis, evidenced by increased levels of PRR, angiotensinogen, ACE, and AT1R in organs that regulate BP, such as the kidneys, blood vessels, and brain (32, 35, 38–40, 42). The gene discussed is AGTR1; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
