HSP90B2P and cancer: HSP expression has been reported to be significantly elevated in many cancers; for example, high levels of heat shock proteins affect six phases of “cancer hallmarks” via the activation or inhibition of cellular pathways, including 1) sustained proliferative signaling, 2) evasion of growth inhibitory factors, 3) resistance to programmed cell death, 4) infinite replication, 5) induction of aberrant angiogenesis, and 6) activation of invasion and metastasis (5).
