VAT1L and schizophrenia: The synaptic vesicle membrane protein VAT‐1 homolog‐like (VAT1L) has been associated with schizophrenia (Chang et al. 2015) and VAT1, its paralog, is responsible for the storage and release of neurotransmitters in synapses (Levius and Linial 1993) and its activity in keratinocytes is calcium‐dependent (Koch et al. 2003).
