In an excellent review, Raza et al., compiled evidence demonstrating that stress, depression, emotional/sexual trauma, and lifetime PSTD were associated with modifications to DNA methylation of NR3C1, also known as GR, while early life trauma and PTSD also altered methylation of FKBP5, a regulator of intracellular GR signalling [105]. The gene discussed is NR3C1; the disease is post-traumatic stress disorder.
