When we examined the lungs, it was observed that, while septic induction by E. coli injection caused significant alveolar septal wall thickening, peribronchial inflammation, airway lumen leukocyte accumulation, and severe pneumonia in the lung tissues of both WT and Adap–/– septic mice, the degree of damage was more profound in the lung tissues of Adap–/– mice than in those of WT mice (Figure 2E). This evidence concerns the gene FYB1 and pneumonia.
