While prior studies show that HMGA2 is overexpressed in colon cancer and Hmga2 drives tumorigenesis in mouse models with Let-7 deficiency (101), we focus on HMGA1 since transcripts are approximately 100-fold higher than HMGA2 in colon cancer datasets (TCGA) and in many other human tumors (28–30).
