IGF2 is one of the main oncogenes involved in ACC tumorigenesis, known to be part of a complex—IGF2 system—which activates signaling pathways, such as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt and the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathways, involved in proliferation, survival, and cell metastasis [23, 46–48]. Here, MTOR is linked to adrenal cortex carcinoma.
