In cancer cells, TRAIL, produced by immune cells, has been shown to induce apoptosis of tumour cells through its interaction with death receptors TRAIL‐R1 and TRAIL‐R2, but TRAIL‐R4 can act as a decoy receptor, inhibiting TRAIL‐induced apoptosis and contributing to tumour cell survival.23 This evidence concerns the gene TNFRSF10B and cancer.
