The SNP rs968567, located in the promoter region of the FADS2 gene, has been reported to alter the methylation level of cg06781209.[52, 53] This alteration disrupts the binding of SREBF2, downregulating FADS2 gene expression and subsequently reducing RA risk.[52, 53] In other words, changes in the methylation level of cg06781209 are associated with the suppression of the effects of rs968567, thereby influencing RA risk. Here, FADS2 is linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
